Acting Exercises
There is little consensus about Actor Training, with individual theorists, teachers and theatre directors imposing their own approaches, expectations or formats. However, in Canadian and North American contexts, generally the dominant or default style is naturalistic. Derived from Stanislavski, this was propagated by Strassberg and others in mid-century New York through the "Method". More recently avant-garde groups have experimented with alternative approaches.
The aim of this database is to collect a range of non-naturalistic styles, and recreations of historical performances.
